During the renovation process the downstairs bathroom was the one that got the most attention. I'm not sure why as it was not the worst! The upstairs bathrooms have been repaired to the point that they are functional - new temporary floors, and a brand new shower in the master bath - but they both need further work and I don't consider them done. They are big projects for further down the road (I want to extend the master bath and it involves changing walls!).
So we put most of our energy into the downstairs bathroom. Before we moved in we re-tiled the floor, re-textured the walls, painted, put in a new vanity and new lights and were mostly done.
And then I decided that we needed a bathroom mirror. In order to fit the mirror in we needed to move the lights up a few inches, and over a few inches to be centred on the new vanity. So the lights came down and the drywall got ripped off. And then Jeff decided that we needed to install an exhaust fan. Which proved problematic because once again there was a giant duct in the ceiling that we didn't know about when we started the install. So after making a couple of small trial holes in the ceiling it proved to be much easier to take half the ceiling down. So the one room that was mostly done reverted in the space of a morning to a building site, tarped up, taped off, covered in drywall dust, and with great gaping holes in the walls and ceiling. It was so disheartening!
But after a few days of disruption we are now fully and finally done in this room! This is the first room to be completely finished. One down, nine to go!
