Every February I moan about how many pointless bank holidays there are (because who needs bank holidays in February? They should be in April or May!) and I don't like how the school district stacks February with extra days off. The kids have one full week of school in February! This year, it has worked out great. Every day they've had off school, we've kept them busy!
For today's day off, the project was to insulate all the walls and the vaulted ceiling in the front room. The house had a leaky roof for years, hence all the ceiling damage when we first saw it. A few years back the city made them replace the roof, and we realised that they must have done the insulation at the same time. It was installed from the roof side, ie pushed down and in and not tacked up, so when we took the ceilings off all the insulation fell down. So today Jeff and Adam re-installed the insulation properly - tacked up from the underneath.
The walls are insulated, the dining room ceiling has been lowered an inch to match the ceiling in the front room, after a couple of long and frustrating nights that big duct in the kitchen has been stuffed into the soffit, and we are good to go on drywall!
