Today we went over to the house to try and get it ready for work to start. I don't know when that will be! But today we moved all the furniture and boxes that were left in the upstairs rooms to the downstairs, and some of the downstairs stuff out to the garage. Hopefully we can get it clear soon. Most of the military stuff is gone - just the wall of flamethrowers in the back yard is left.
While Jeff and I were hauling furniture, the kids took up the parquet floor in the family room. About 30% of the tiles were gone already, and they were so old that it was easy to remove. Some of the tiles you just had to pick up. But some were still stuck down - Jeff gave each of the kids a chisel and a mallet and told them to have at it. Nicholas couldn't believe he was being given actual tools to use. He said 'This is the best day ever!' They worked hard and got the whole floor up in three or four hours - not all kids worked equally hard for equal amounts of time, but it got done!
