Back to school!

Tuesday was back to school day for us. Amazingly, after a summer of sleeping in, everyone was up on time and we actually left early!

Adam is in 6th grade. The kids' school is a K-6 school, so for this one year I will have all four kids in one school, which is kind of nice! He may claim that he doesn't want to go back, but he does really. He is looking forward to being at the top of the tree in school!

Ellie is in 5th grade this year, and this will be her first year in a GATE class. So we are all pretty excited about that, but even more excited about the fact that she has Adam's awesome teacher from last year. Adam had a great year with Mrs Larson and we are hoping that Ellie will too.

Kate was so excited to go back to school that she insisted on coming with me for GATE orientation and Kindergarten orientation last week, even though neither applied to her! She is in first grade, and the most important thing about that is that it means access to the big playground and the swings.

Nicholas is in Transitional Kindergarten, which is a new-ish program for kids with October - December birthdays. When Adam was due to go to Kindergarten we held him back and did a year of Pre-K because he had a late birthday. It worked so well for him that when we were facing the same issue with Nicholas it was an easy choice. So TK it is. Essentially he'll do two years of Kindergarten. He already wants to ride the bus and have a lunch box like the big three, and neither of those things happen in Kindergarten. So it's going to be a long  - but hopefully fun - two years for him!

His backpack is as big as he is... and would have been bigger had I not found tickle baby stuffed into it and taken him out....

The house is eerily quiet with all of them gone.
