The drive up was actually fine. It was clear for most of the way and once we actually got above snow level, the roads had all been ploughed anyway. We arrived at the cabin at about 2:30 and Jamie somehow magically produced enough snow clothes for everyone. All the kids were fully kitted out in snow boots, coats, and trousers - all from Garvin extras! It was great. We were able to stay out most of the afternoon because they were all warm and waterproof.
The kids were so eager to get out into the snow that by the time the last kid (Nicholas) was dressed and outside, the first kid (Ellie) had already gone sledding and crashed into a tree, injured her knee, and was wanting to come back inside! So that's why she looks a bit solemn in the early pictures. It took her a while to warm up to the idea of getting back on that sled. But she did. And she had a good time!
We all had a great time! Kate was a lunatic on the sled. She came down the hill screaming her head off, with arms and legs flailing, every time. I think she thought it was more fun if everything was wiggling. That is how she lives life - wiggly - so I should not be surprised that it is how she sleds as well. It was so funny to watch!
Nicholas loved it. He mostly rode with somebody else, and every time he got to the bottom of the hill you would hear cries of 'That was AWESOME! Again, again, again, again!'
I don't remember that I have ever been sledding before. But I have now!
Kate was bound and determined that she was going to build a snowman. So the last thing she did before we left to come home on Friday was build a tiny little snowman with Jeff. She was so proud of herself!
Adam and Ellie have seen snow before, but this is the first time that any of the children have actually played in snow. We had so much fun. It was awesome. Again, again, again, again!
