So we have been living in this house for just over a year. The count of rooms that are totally and completely finished remains at just one, mostly because we don't have blinds anywhere and as soon as we do that then the kids bedrooms and the front room will count as finished, but right now they don't. So... one down, nine still to go.
There is still construction going on both inside (I have a nice hole in the wall where the linen cupboard was) and outside (garage attic); and we are beginning to think about landscaping but think is pretty much all we have done (apart from laying sod). The front garden needs a whole redesign - including moving the pathway and flowerbeds - and the back garden needs irrigation down one whole side, new retaining walls, pathways, the works. So we haven't even started it. Once we start to tackle the pool the rest of the garden may start to take shape. Or it may lay derelict for several more years, who can tell!
Current projects on deck are built in bookshelves for either side of the fireplace. I am so excited about these. I am having to contain myself because they are taking forever! Mostly because in order to spray paint them Jeff needs to build a spray booth in the garage. In order to set up a spray booth in the garage he needs to clear a space in the garage. In order to clear a space in the garage he needs to have somewhere to put all the stuff currently in the garage. So, I kid you not, he is building a whole new attic in the garage (which will be this house's third attic. We have as many attics as we have bathrooms) so he can clear the garage floor. It seems like a lot of effort just to get some bookshelves painted, but hey, I'm not the one doing it.
When the bookshelves are done, next on deck is a garage remodel, which will include finally plumbing in the air conditioning properly so we don't have to keep running out there to empty the condensation bucket every half hour, and re-doing the laundry area (which is awful). At some point after that we are re-doing the upstairs bathrooms (extending one into the other, extending the other into our bedroom) at the same time, which sounds like an absolute nightmare. And at some point after that we will tackle the pool and the landscaping.
And maybe get some blinds on the windows.
